Song Review (Pray By Justin Bieber)

          “Pray” was written by Omar Martinez and Adam Messinger and Nasri Atweh of The Messengers. The singer is Justin Bieber who is now a Canadian Singer and songwriter. The song is included in Bieber’s album, My Worlds: Acoustic. It was released on year 2010.

          The song opens with Bieber singing “I just can’t sleep tonight, knowing things ain’t right”. He feels worry about something. “It’s in the papers, it’s on the TV, it’s everywhere that I go, Children are crying, soldiers are dying, some people don’t have a home”. It emphasizes the people in the other side of the world are suffering and in the pain.

          “But I know there’s sunshine behind that rain, I know there’s good times behind that pain”. Bieber knows the people who are suffering will get a better life in the future. The people who are in the pain will also have happy times. Bieber asked, “Hey, can you tell me how I can make a change?”, He desired to help them for a better tomorrow.

          “I close my eyes and I can see a better day, I close my eyes and pray”, Bieber prays for a better tomorrow for the pain and suffering in the world. He hopes the people will have a better day.

          “I lose my appetite knowing kids starve tonight”, He saw the kids are starving and he lose his appetite to eat. “Am I a sinner, cause half my dinner is still lay on my plate?”, he feels sorry because he didn’t finish the food and wasted. “Ooh I got a vision to make a difference, and it’s starving today”, Bieber desired to change himself, he starts starving.

          “I close my eyes and pray for the broken hearted, I pray for the life not started, I pray for all the ones not breathing, I pray for all the souls in need, I pray, can you give ‘em one today?”, He prays for everthing included the things that have life and no life. He prays for good life for all of them.

          In my opinion, this is really an meaningful song. The lyrics brought out the Bieber’s words and the music brought out the Bieber’s mood. I like this song very much. I like the music and the messages that the people nowdays who are suffering at the other side of the world which we cannot see it. Other than that, the music video shows the images and video clips of pain and suffering around the world one after another. This is a reason why it was voted one of the Youtube’s “Best Videos of 2010”. The last quote in the music video had mentioned “God speaks in the silence of the heart, Listening is the beginning of the prayer”, we should thanks the god and become a good prayer. After saw the music video, I had touching deeply and I have appreciated now is enough for me. I strongly recommend this song with the music video for all of you. I hope all of you enjoy it very much.
