Food Review – Ice Kacang
The food that I willing to share to
you all is Ice Kacang. Ice Kacang is mostly known as “ABC” (acronym for Air
Batu Campur or Mixed Ice) in Malaysia. ABC is a popular dessert in Malaysia as
it is a delicious cold dessert that can refresh us in a hot weather. This icy
cold and pleasant dessert soothes our throat and cools down our body in hot and
humid Malaysia.
Traditionally,
the big ice cube will be shaved by hand using a special ice machine. However, it
has made easier today with a motorized machine.
Previously, Ice Kacang was made of only shaved ice and red
beans but today, it is made with a mound of finely shaved ice which is
generously drizzled with sweet flavoured syrup such as palm sugar syrup or gula
Melaka syrup, sarsaparilla syrup or rose syrup and evaporated milk. The shaved
ice is then topped with a generous portion of grass jelly (cincau), cendol
(short starch noodles with green colouring from pandan leaves), palm seed
(attap chee), red beans, crushed roasted peanuts and sweet corn. You may also
add in a scoop of ice-cream of your choice. ABC has been given a sophisticated
appeal and came in bright and sharp colours as well as with all kinds of fruit
cocktails and dressings.
Now, you can enjoy it immediately
before the ice melts. Moreover, you no need to worry if the ice melts, it
tastes still equally good as a drink.
This popular dessert is available
in everywhere of Malaysia like restaurant, shopping complex outlets, hotels and
resorts but the most delicious ones are found at hawker stalls in the streets.
