“Someone Like You” is a song by English singer-song writer Adele. It was written by Adele itself and Dan Wilson for her second studio album 21. It was voted as 3^rd most favourite single of the last 60 years in the UK in the list voted by the public in conjunction with The Official Charts Company’s 60^th anniversary. “Someone like You” was the 1^st recipient of the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance, at the 54^th Grammy Awards. 

“Someone like You” is a song about the regret that you feel but cannot share. It is a song that Adele couldn’t say to the person to whom this song is meant. This song describe that at first Adele heard about him. He married after he settled down. Adele tries to feign courage by asking him why he is so shy, since it is very unlike him. After that, she confesses that she had hoped by turning out of the blue, uninvited, and by seeing her face, he would be reminded that for her, it is not over.

This song continues with the path of memories.

Adele reminds that the time flies and it seem like they are so happy yesterday. All the regrets and mistakes are their memories and she realized that she has to move on and she can find someone as good as him however never wants him to forger her.

I think that this song had touches on the unfortunate aspects of love that our cultural had often ignores. Many of the relationship had end up without any definite closer for one or both people. Sometimes, mis-understandings between each other, communication error, moving far distance away from each other, harsh words or other reason cause the relationship to be end.  Adele, like man woman in the real life, are still “in love” with her ex. Now she wants to live in a life with not anger and regret, but with these feeling that won’t go away. I felt that it is not that she really want to be that with the person, she can understand that he have moved on. But I think that her feeling are still there, which means that she is now stuck in the limbo like place wanting to see him again and yet still wanting to wish him the best in his new life. And here bring about a disappointing fact that many relationship culturally end without the continuation of a friendship. Two people who are close to each other suddenly don’t speak anymore. It left a lot of confusion and wondering what is really happening.

"Sometimes it last in love but sometimes it hurts instead", is so true. How many times have we given up on love for reasons important to us, but we may never forget that person even though we move on with our lives. From this, I feel that Adele showed up uninvited so he could see it wasn’t over for her and she needed to see him face-to-face, eye-to-eye to read his expression to have the closure that she needed.

This song is meaning to me as it is very influential in a good way because it is actually reflecting and showing to us how life is and how sometimes it is difficult in forget someone that you really in love with. With times passes, you still not able to forget that person and later on that person is willing to take a second chance that you will be there waiting with your arms fully open to except them once again and with your heart in your hand for them to keep. Besides, I think the piano music was good and Adele's voice was sublime. 

I have turned into a big Adele fan, her voice is a treasure to listen to and she shows us not to be afraid to feel, it's all a part of growing.
