Today I am going to introduce a song for all of you, that is “My Love” from Westlife, an Irish boy band, formed in July 1998 and disbanded in June 2012. This song was released as the second single from their second studio album, Coast to Coast (2000). It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, giving the band their seventh UK number one. The song was the 35th best-selling single of 2000 in the UK. It also won The Record of the Year. It has sold 300,000 copies in UK.

First, the reason I introduce to you because this song “My Love” I had heard since I was 8 years old. I love this song once I first time listened to it. I love its melody. When I was growing up, I love it more because I understand the meaning of the song.  It is so meaningful and so touching.

First, let’s talk about the vocal of the song. The vocal is very tuneful and interesting. I am impressed by the singer’s vocal. It is so touching and can bring me to the world of the story he sang. The singer’s vocal tone is a rich tone. He can bring out the meaning of the lyrics. Next, talking about the musical instrument, the song included piano, guitar and drum. The intro for the song is started by the piano follow by the guitar. Intro for a song is very important. It will decide the first impression of the song whether is good or bad. The intro for the song is very nice and can catch people heart. It is a good intro.

Besides, the whole song of melody is great. The arrangement of the melody and the vocal is perfect. It slowly brings us to the world of the song. It starts from verse. The verse is very nice and soft. Before it goes into chorus, there is a pre-chorus. The pre-chorus is perfect arranged especially the vocal part, the singers sing together and bring the feel to the chorus. Then it comes to the chorus. About the chorus, the front part of the chorus is not very nice. I feel it is a bit low again after the pre-chorus which bring the feeling to the highest point. However, the second part is nice. Especially for the bridge which is nice arranged and make the chorus part will not be repeating and boring. Overall, the melody and the vocal are great!

The music video of the song is also very nice to watch. The opening scene of the music video features the band members waiting at Shannon Airport, where Nicky Byrne informs the band members that the last flight out has just been cancelled. The band members become upset by the news and Brian McFadden exclaims that he is going home. The others follow and the song begins.

The first stanza takes place inside the airport and during the chorus, the scene shifts to Limerick (Catherine st) a town in Ireland. Harstonge house on Harstonge st (or Oznam house as its also known) can clearly be seen in the video as they walk down the street. After the end of the first chorus, the scene shifts to Colbert train station in Limerick. Then again during the second chorus, the scene changes to Lahinch Beach, Co. Clare and in Kilkee, (Co. Clare) During the final chorus, the band members sing atop the Cliffs of Moher, Co. Clare.

Moreover, the lyric of the song is also very meaningful. The whole song is to bring out the feeling of love towards his or her lovers. It also shows how much the person misses his or her lovers because his or her lover is far away from him. Besides, it also gives another meaning that is the person want to achieve or accomplish his or her dream.  This song brings me two meanings. The first one is it brings me hope and courage to succeed in my future. Next, it also let me feel that love is precious. We must appreciate the love we have.

At the end, the song is a good song. That is what I feel when I am listening to this song. I strongly recommend all of you to listen to this song. It is very nice and meaningful.  I hope you all can enjoy it.
