"You Raise Me Up" by WESTLIFE
When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up to more than I can be.
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up to more than I can be.
'YOU RAISE ME UP' is the song that i would like to introduce to all of you. This song is was originally composed by the duo Secret Garden. The music was written by Secret Garden's ROLF LOVLAND and the lyrics by BRENDAN GRAHAM. However, the version that i always heard is the version by WESTLIFE, an IRISH boy band, formed in July 1998 ,and disbanded in June 2012. WESTLIFE band was originally signed by Simon Cowell and managed by Louis Waish, the group's final line-up consisted of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan, Brian McFadden was a member from July 1998 until his departure in March 2004.
So what is so special about WESTLIFE's version? "You Raise Me Up" was the lead single from WESTLIFE's fifth studio album, FACE TO FACE. This version is one of the most successful covers of the
song, peaking at No. 1 on the UK singles chart, the only version to do so. This was the band's 13th number-one single as
well as the first single to be released following the departure of Brian McFadden from the group. The single sold 540,000 copies in UK so far.
The lyrics of the song 'YOU RAISE ME UP' was so simple and short. It only repeated at the chorus part. For me, it is good because easy for me to remember. Although the lyrics was so simple but it was so meaningful and encouraged me. The lyrics of "You Raise Me Up" convey a strong theme in GOD and the message of power and strength through faith.Portraying a message of strength and unlimited possibility through religions, the song lyrics relate specifically to the quote from the
Christian Bible, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me." As an overall from the lyrics, it was so motivated and encouraged when people heard the song and study throughout the lyrics.
The always repeated part, which is the chorus part of the song - You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up to walk on stormy seas; I am strong when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up to more than I can be , gives me the meaning that when god or somebody such as friends and family are beside me support me, it will give me a kind of power to continue adhere to complete every obstacles in front of me. Therefore, this song was really motivated me and encouraged me. I will listen to it when i face any problem to recharge my confidence. Besides, a good song besides of the chorus is good of course we have to also consider about the music part. For me, the whole music gave me a feeling of peace and harmony. The melody and the tone is very good and it was able to combine with the lyrics and give out motivation and encouragement to the listener.
In conclusion, the song 'YOU RAISE ME UP' is a motivated song and it was able to encourage people when they are down or face any problems. The overall melody is so peaceful and harmony. In my opinion, this song will give out positive energy to all of its listener especially to teenagers. At last, I hope you all will enjoy will the song.
Thank you =)
